The US government is getting ready to hold a media conference about its new measures to decrease abuse in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). SNAP currently provides over 46 million Americans with healthy food to eat. However, as with any program, there are bound to be some people trying to take advantage of it. Fraud occurs when SNAP benefits are exchanged for cash, when applicants lie and receive benefits they are not supposed to receive, and when retailers lie and are able to participate under false pretenses.
